Windows 11; Beware of fake installers while updating

We are all excited to get the new Windows OS version quicker than everyone else. By the end of this year, Windows 11 will be officially made available to the public. However, Cybercriminals are taking advantage of this anticipation among the users. Kaspersky, a famous cybersecurity firm, warns that attackers are fooling the users with fake windows 11 installers that can infect their computers with malicious software. They also added that PCs that have installed such softwares can be infected by “relatively harmless adware, to full-fledged Trojans, password stealers, exploits, etc.”

Though Windows 11 pre-release build is available on the official windows site, most of the users are using third-party sources to download the build. Kaspersky also warns that these installers have the same name and size as the original Windows 11 installers, which makes it look legitimate. The cybersecurity firm has identified several such attempts linked to these malicious Windows 11 installers. The biggest mistake you can make is to not verify the source of the installer.

So the next question that arises will be, ” How do you download Windows 11 safely? “

The final release of Windows 11 will only be out later this year. However, the pre-release build is available on the Windows official site and it is not recommended to install it on the primary computer as it may not be stable. To download Windows 11 safely in the future, you need to register for the Windows Insider Program.
