Clubhouse Breach; User data up for sale

The clubhouse app was launched back in March 2020. There seems to be a sudden interest in Club House, which came to the limelight recently. However, it seems like it’s been the worst year for the social media platforms. Few months after the data scraping from the Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, Clubhouse joins the list.

A cybersecurity expert Jiten Jain posted a tweet on Twitter saying an SQL database containing 3.8 million scraped Clubhouse user data containing mobile, fixed-line, private and professional numbers will be sold through Darknet. He further claimed that “Clubhouse is connected in real-time to all their users’ phonebooks meaning each time you add a new phone number in your phonebook, the number is automatically added into the secret database of Clubhouse. ” This is not the first time they are facing a data breach. Back in April, there was a similar rumour about a data breach in the clubhouse database.

However, In a statement to news agency IANS, Clubhouse denied these claims. Several Cybersecurity experts also reacted on this issue saying that his claims are fake. The clubhouse users have to follow more recommended cybersecurity practices. Be vigilant for phishing links and use 2-factor authentication wherever possible
