Windows 10 security support extended by Microsoft

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Microsoft extends support to windows version 10 by six months. Windows 10 which regularly releases security updates twice a year, is now providing a six months grace period to some of the older version of Windows 10.

Microsoft has extended support for the second time to almost expired version recently. Support that was originally scheduled to end this month for Enterprise, Education, IoT customers still using Windows 10, version 1709 is extended for further six months. Windows 10, version 1809 Home, Pro, Education, Workstations, IoT Core due for end of support on May 12th, has extended to November 10th.

Also getting end of support delays of six months: 

Windows Server version 1809,

Configuration Manager version 1810,

SharePoint Server 2010,

SharePoint Foundation 2010, and

Project Server 2010

As per Microsoft the move is meant to “contribute to reducing the stress our customers face right now”. If need be, this support may be extended further. It is advised to update as soon as possible to the latest version to ensure the security and protection.
